When a chainsaw is cutting at top speed, the chain can be moving as fast at 75 mph. That means it could be going around the bar 60 times per second, meaning that if the saw should kick back into your body, over 100 feet of sharp chain would contact your skin in just one second. That’s why we all need to wear the recommended safety equipment whenever operating a chainsaw.
