Keeping your chainsaw in tip top shape can be a frustrating and a very dangerous task. Not matter what kind of chainsaw you use it can be easily maintained if you do it correctly. Despite its power and size the chainsaw is a tuned machine. The most common place that is overlooked when the chainsaw is being checked is the chain oiling system.

Most of today’s chainsaws can automatic check it but manually checking it is still the best thing to do.

The chain is one of the most used items on the chainsaw. Maintaining this correctly can lead to your chainsaws having a longer life. One of the best ways to maintain it is by sharpening the chain. Chain sharpening requires sharpening the cutting teeth as well as the depth gauges between them. Inexperienced chainsaw owners should seek professional help to do this task. However you need to watch the length of the cutting teeth as once they are below at least 4mm they need to be replaced. If your chainsaw’s chain happens to be too tight or too loose, it will eventually cause problems. Also when the saw is off the chain brake and is released, you should be easily able to manually feed the chain through the saw.

Other important parts to watch to maintain are clutch, brake, air filter, bar and flywheels that all need regular checking. Following these tips are great ways to keep your chainsaw in perfect working condition. If any problems ever occur always contact a profession to get help.
